Penistone999
I know what it would be; more people dying from gunshot wounds. Not worth it. Really ? Had the police been armed , then these too poor police officers would quite probably still be alive today .
LeMaquis
Really ? Had the police been armed , then these too poor police officers would quite probably still be alive today . You're guessing, aren't you? The police in the USA are routinely armed but some get shot dead. Some also shoot dead innocent people. More guns on the street mean more not fewer people getting shot. mikeG
I agree with earlier posts on the bail issue. How this man, suspected of being involved in murder, was ever allowed out on bail amazes and disgusts me. Someone made a bad decision there and this mistake should never be repeated. Kersplosh
There was no choice, he hadn't been charged with an offence. A bit of 'Good Old' Policing would have sorted him out. Those concrete steps down from the interview rooms get very slippery when the agency cleaners have been around
Halibut
Really ? Had the police been armed , then these too poor police officers would quite probably still be alive today . Nonsense. In all likelihood they'd dtill have been killed.

discodown
How come ?? were you there ? Were you? By all accounts he opened the door and started shooting. Whether they had guns or not is irrelevant they would still have been shot to death. Unless you'd prefer police to wander about with unholstered weapons with the safety off at all times "just in case". The truth is nobody knows what would have happened if they'd had guns of their own. They might have shot him. They might not. Chances are probably they wouldn't because he'd know they would have had guns and would have shot them through the door. Body armour might have made a bit more sense. Look at it this way! our police should be armed to give them a chance in this nasty world, with the correct arms training, anyhow what are you on about unholstered guns and safety catches off, if it's a pistol it will be in an holster with the safety catch on, if its a rifle it will be carried with safety catch on. The pistol or the rifle is only as safe as it's user, ref the police, before they are allowed to walk the streets with either, THEY WILL BE highly trained.
