purdy
The first police office to be sentenced in the Plebgate affair admits he lied and conspired to get his nephew to lie also. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25682652 A Met police officer has admitted misconduct in public office over the "plebgate" affair. PC Keith Wallis, 53, was accused of falsely claiming to have witnessed a row between the then-cabinet minister Andrew Mitchell and police officers at the gates of Downing Street. The diplomatic protection group officer has been bailed until 6 February when he is due to be sentenced. He will offer his resignation from the force later, his lawyer said. It was claimed PC Wallis sent an email to his local MP John Randall, then Conservative deputy chief whip, wrongly stating he had witnessed the row. The first of many? Phanerothyme
I think this qualifies as a conspiracy to damage the government.

If the South Yorkshire lads follow suit we'll have a skeleton force. It's maybe time to dress the soldiers up again.

Mecky
It's not been proved either way what's been said. Is anyone really bothered about being called plebian? What is true is Mitchell's unacceptable attitude to people he probably considers to be below himself, whether provoked or not.
Nagel
The worst thing is that he said it the day after those two poor WPCs were killed in Manchester. It's disgusting really. He's the perfect advert for all that is wrong with the Tory leadership, a daily reminder to the country about what they really think. So no, don't sack but keep him there to remind us what we're really dealing with. What happened in this case pls?

An attitude problem is a lot less serious than the powers a copper has to fit you up.

Yes indeed ... but an attitude problem backed up by the Establishment amounts to one mighty big stick to wield.
