Ironically I never do it. I only serviced my old Beemer once in 40k miles and its was still running great when i sold it on 140k miles. A 1.6 307 will not be that good on fuel especially around town. An old Astra will be lighter so will have been better on fuel. Also with fuel prices going up all the time putting £20 in at a time like you used to will not last long in any car.
