Kerrangaroo
That's not necessarily true, it depends on what it is you like to eat, plus it's possible to make two sometimes three meals from bought ingredients. It's nice though to not have to bother cooking and washing up every now and then. Welcome to the forum by the way.
JimLane
I agree you can get a good meal out especially a calvery cheaper than at home and no cleaning up. Not many cheap Italians though

DerbyTup
depends what you are happy with I suppose? If I see a "2 for a tenner" sign that to me translates as "don't eat here - it's rubbish". I know, I could be mistaken - but in the majority of cases I don't think so. I've been in loads of such places and see the diners with their thin slices of processed meat, frozen veg and watery gravy. Sometimes I'd like to put an arm round them and say - come and have a proper meal with me! But I'm too tight to do that and anyway, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. So, sunday lunch for me, I'll buy a joint of meat, let's say £25 and another £5 for fresh veg off the market (not the supermarket type with tomorrow's sell by date on it). And I'll make some gravy from the meat juices and make Yorkshire puddings rather than rely on Aunt Bessy and those polystyrene ones that she sells. For £30 I can put on a Sunday lunch, at home, for 4 of us. And there's usually a bit of meat left over for sandwiches the next day or the day after. Let's say there's enough for 2 of us to have a sandwich lunch. That's 6 meals then for my £30 - or £5 a head. (I don't charge the family for my time - maybe I should?). Hang on a minute! That's 2 for a tenner isn't it?
