Sheffield Forum claimed all 3 points and kept their first clean sheet in a competitive game for over year against a strong, free-scoring Chaucer SC. There were a few changes to the side as a few of players returned. Liam Wales, Ryan Savage and Nathan Jenkins returned to the side as players again moved around into more comfortable positions. Andy Coates nursing an injury and will miss a few weeks whilst Joe Neate, Ryan Lynch, Eifion Griffiths and Jay Bowden are still unavailable. Ash Proctor continued covering left back whilst Zak Crownshaw moved to right back, Corey Crownshaw into centre mid. A complete change to the side last weekend.

Early exhanges in this game showed how the game was to pan out. Both teams were looking to attack and play the ball around. Chaucer had the first effort on goal, a rather ambitious long range effort heading wide of goal. It was then Forums turn, good football throughout saw the ball fall to Daniel Sheedy just outside the area. His shot on target but saved by the Chaucer keeper.

Both teams looked to break the dead lock but Forums defence held well and attacked quickly. Chaucer had a couple of long range efforts whilst Forum worked hard to play their way inside the Chaucer area.

Wales broke down the wing and worked his way inside the area. He then played the ball straight across goal for Shane Middlebrook to score giving Forum the lead.

It was doubled ten minutes later. Good play and movement from defence to attack got Forum forward. Tom Gray then played in Daniel Sheedy who went round his man on the byline before somehow poking the ball home from an acute angle.

Forum were playing well and deserved their lead but Chaucer did come close to grabbing one back. An effort from just outside the area flashed just wide of the goal with keeper Adam Smith beaten.

HT: Chaucer Social Club 0-2 Sheffield Forum

Forum returned in the second half expecting a battle from Chaucer given their early season form of goalscoring, however it was not to be. Forums defence and midfield battled very well and kept Chaucer away from goal.

There would be no room for error in this game but it didnt look like that was going to be a problem. Again Forum pressed high up the pitch with Wales and Ryan Savage both hitting shots off target as well as Tom Gray and Sheedy. Forum were in no real rush with a comfortable 2 goal lead.

Forum did grab a third though, again Wales go inside the area, cut it back to Middlebrook who scored his 2nd of the game.

Chaucer didnt seem to offer much in return and Forum had put in a confident display, the final whistle going to give Sheffield Forum their first competitive clean sheet since October 2010! Previously, a late goal would have been conceded when the victory was sealed but not in this game. Concentration levels were kept high and Forum very good for the win.
