Halibut
my girlfriend always has the bedroom window open and we always keep the bathroom window open when having a bath or a shower.the smell always seems to appear at night Which is when the lights are on presumably. I had a similar problem once and traced it back to the light fitting, which was very hot.

It turned out to be a problem with the electric socket the fire was plugged in to - the wires inside were becoming very hot and melting ! I'd advise you to get a professional to check your electrics as a matter of urgency. Better to pay out for repairs now than worse later on. Regards. mikeG
Might be worth checking the lampshades for dust, dead flies etc or, if they get too hot, they may give off a pong. Are the bulbs the correct wattage?

fake
If you haven't already then change the bulbs to low energy ones as they use less power and see if it makes a difference. Get the electrics checked too as you may just need some new fittings.
