Silveryip
How long should you keep eye shadows and mascara before throwing them away? A year? Or less than a year?
Zer0
Probably when it gets to the stage where you need a trowel to put it on.

medusa
Mascara is a real bacteria fest when it has been opened and used, so if I hadn't used it within 6 months (probably less actually) then I'd bin it. Being moist, closed up in a tube and going so close into your eye it's really not a good plan to make it last any longer. Other things are likely to last longer and be a little less critical as to whether they have bacteria in especially if, for instance, your foundation is in a pump dispenser so the contents of the bottle aren't in contact with your skin every time you use it. irenewilde
I've got eye shadows that are older than my teenage daughter......like Medusa says though, I wouldn't keep mascaras too long and you can usually tell when foundation is past it's best as it goes thick and lumpy. Darth Vader
Throw away? Never! My missus never throws anything away, she's still got make-up from when we first met 25 years ago, and she still looks as gorgeous as the day I met her. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=too+much+makeup&num=10&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=ke0rFuNjUEUI3M:&imgrefurl=http://www.tvacres.com/char_bobeck_mimi.htm&docid=p0IzTn4tNZXetM&imgurl=http://www.tvacres.com/images/bobeck_mimi2.jpg&w=225&h=300&ei=7HtjUKGENsGX1AXtuYCgCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=536&vpy=155&dur=589&hovh=240&hovw=180&tx=103&ty=106&sig=116668342321070863421&page=1&tbnh=123&tbnw=92&start=0&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0,i:
