Jeffrey Shaw
Sugar, is a drug. It's the only thing that makes people eat cakes ands of drinks. So what makes people drink no-sugar soft drinks, then?
poppet2
So what makes people drink no-sugar soft drinks, then? All 'no sugar' drinks are substituted by chemicals which many claim are just as addictive as the real thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_substitute Best to just concentrate on natural fruit drinks or concentrated juice drinks. These contain natural sugar - it's called fruit. Much healthier. Stay away from cola drinks.
Jeffrey Shaw
Aha- so sugar is OK as long as it's natural? Note that many poisons are 'natural' too!
poppet2
Aha- so sugar is OK as long as it's natural? Note that many poisons are 'natural' too! Yes. however I am talking about it's addictive quality. That is not present in honey or natural fruit or fruit juices which have healthy slow release qualities, and don't leave you crawling on the ceiling. poppet2
Stopped sugar about 30 years ago, took about a week to get used to it. And you substituted it with...? For example how do you cope with eating biscuits, cakes, sugary drinks?
Andy
Like many others, I used to take 2 sugars in my tea. I can't remember why I stopped but I find it vile if someone puts sugar in my tea by mistake now. Strong, with just a splash of skimmed milk (can't stand milky tea either). As for coffee, I used to take sugar but stopped a few years ago because nobody else at work took it and we didn't have any. I can drink coffee with sugar in though. My mum always puts sugar in my coffee because she forgets I don't want it any more. If I'm hung over () then a coffee with two sugars is a treat
monkey104
Stopped taking sugar just over 5 weeks ago, watched what I eat and combined with a bit of running I have lost 9lbs. I was taking 3 sugars in my tea, average about 8 cups a day. I don't breathe through my arse whilst tying my laces now!
