Muslim Rage-a different view?

Recommended Posts

Having seen some of the so-called "cartoons", which prompted the riots a couple of years ago, with their pornographic nature, and having seen for myself the obscenities contained in some of them, I can actually understand why some people were grossly offended by them.

There is a right to freedom of speech/ freedom of opinion, sure, but I do think that many of those so-called "cartoons" took that far, far beyond the pale, and were deliberately intended to provoke extreme reactions from even the mildest of people.

Define 'pornographic' in this context. I didn't see anything pornographic.

I seem to remember reading that there were some other cartoons which had been doctored at the order of immams (those holy men stirring the pot again) and these were the ones which caused more of the furore.

We didn't see them because they were never published here.

there were a couple of the cartoons which were more than pornographic in content. This is a family forum, so I am reluctant to describe the pictures, but the long and short of it depicted a male with a certain body part exposed, which was nearly as big as himself, chasing a very young female. That's all I am prepared to say as far as the description goes.

I believe that in Europe it is illegal to show depictions of sexual acts with minors, though I am prepared to be corrected about that. (?)

I think they were the fake ones commissioned by the Muslims priests that were printed in that eygptian newspaper? They'd be the same type of troublecausers as the ones that plant the burned pages of the koran on people, wouldn't you say?

Rubbish- it has nothing to do with Freedom of Speech.

In every single society freedom of speech is restricted- you have libel laws, perjury, contempt of court, hate speech laws- to just name a few.

There is a whole list in European and American culture about this.

What I find very hypocritical from the likes of the French magazine Charlie Hebdo (that seems to love to provoke Muslim sentiments), is that they sacked one of their own cartoonists/writers in Maurice Sinet after he had written an article on the son of the ex President Sarkozy.

It is far-fetched for French media like Charlie Hebdo to claim it is a bastion of absolute free speech when it previously condemned one of its own cartoonists, Maurice Sinet, for writing a biting article about Nicholas Sarkozy’s son which appeared to denigrate him for marrying a Jewish heiress for money. Sinet was subsequently sacked for refusing to apologize. So much for principles when domestic political sensitivities are involved – and yet showing sensitivity to a billion or so Muslims around the World is apparently an affront to their secularism.

What about the Duchess of Kent and these topless photo's - certain magazines fought on the 'freedom of speech' bandwagon but the French government ended up apologizing for hurting her feelings.

So what about the feelings of billions of Muslims??

Hope you now get the point. I recommend you and others read the article in the link.
