EDL march in Rotherham: 13 October

Recommended Posts

Biggest problem with the EDL is the anti facists. Although their hearts in the right place they see the best option to protest against them. Why not just ignore the EDL.

The EDL thrive on attention and trouble. Ignoring them will take the fizzle out of the protest. They will quickly dissapate.

There are serious questions to be answered about the performance of all the agencies – from SY Police to Rotherham Council’s Children’s Services – about the failure to intervene to protect these girls and to prosecute those involved in these appalling crimes.

However, I can’t think of a single positive contribution that could be made by a demonstration by the thugs and hooligans who dominate the EDL.

The purported reason for the EDL demonstration is a little surprising given that paedophile Richard Price – one of the EDL’s founders and currently an EDL Facebook administrator – is on the Sex Offender’s Register after pleading guilty to downloading child pornography, and also pleaded guilty to the possession of crack and cocaine. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson), EDL Leader, has consistently defended him.

And, somehow, I doubt that active EDL member and regular EDL demo participant Matthew Woodward will be coming to Rotherham, after his recent conviction for possessing child pornography involving children as young as ten years old and trying to groom a thirteen year old.

I think it’s rather more likely that the demonstration is to protest that no EDL member can be a candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner, as none of them can pass the “no previous convictions’ test”.

Well said Localman. I hope that those who are against the EDL quietly hold up placards stating these facts as they pass.

Better to embarrass them in public and highlight their hypocrisy (better put a different word on the banner though, the EDL members won't know what it means) than to try and stop their march so they can claim they're being persecuted and silenced.

These ex-football hooligans would be the ones who arranged and coordinated groups of people travelling across the country (and internationally) to take part in fights.

What makes you so sure the leaders of the EDL would require some help in organising their marches?

I'm not suggesting they need help in organising their marches, I'm stating the fact the EDL was founded by the JDF and is funded by them. Also I believe most the EDL are too young to have participated in the 1970s/1980s football violence and are generally younger people who revere these old school hooligans. Tommy Robinson is the name of a notorious football hooligan, used as a pseudonym by Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who actually runs a tanning salon.

people should be free to voice their opinions but not if its to deliberaley incite violence and casue mayhem, if its peaceful fine i am sure there will be several counter arguements as others have stated, the sad point is for me that all this will just take up much more police resources and time and money when they are already strectched beyond belief, oppotune time for would be burglars thiefs etc heaven help us

Any trouble will be caused by the Left wing protesters as usual,...

The left causing trouble? Here are some footage and articles by the EDL of their demo in Walsall last Saturday in which they attack the police and also admit to it.

The Nazi's you are refering to in your quoting of Chamberline had popular support in Germany. And their aim was to build an empire or reich.

The EDL on the other hand are a small minority that crave violence and just want to make a point. If you take away opposition and ignore them deny them publicity they will do nothing. What can they do? They are protesting just to make a point and encite an argument. If nobody wants to fight them then there is no fight to have. They cant win. Most people are sensible and disagree with their views.

You can't just allow the EDL to march through our streets. This is England and they're using England as an excuse for their warped politics. The EDL are cowards and wannabee hooligans, if they come up against enough opposition they'll stop. I doubt they'll be marching through East London again after the police had to save them last time. The wouldn't even consider marching in south London. As stupid as they are they're not that stupid.
