Just because it could have an effect, doesn't mean it is useful for any of the treatments that it claims to. At best its a placebo, at worst its a deliberate scam. Yet its been recommended to us by a senior NHS consultant ,as studies have shown improvement following the use of acupuncture.Its even in the NHS literature stating exactly that. If it has an effect on hormones, for instance, oxytocin which brings on labour, it can be used to treat certain conditions, for instance, prolonged labour.
