Cameron considers EU migrant curbs.

Recommended Posts

I, too, hope that this is a weighty factor in removing Britain from the EU. Good riddance to the cost financially and to our society from EU legal meddling and excessive immigration.

Not all of the EU is bad. Its thanks to the EU that we have clean rivers, beaches and seas and laws that prevent the water companies dumping sewage into the sea like they used to.

It would because your customers would have to pay custom taxes to buy your goods if you are outside the common market.
Yes, but you overlook that they don't pay our vat.

If you sell to another EU country, you charge them vat at the UK rate, but they don't pay import duty at their end. So, our EU buyers pay 20% tax on the goods.

If you sell to a non-EU country, they don't pay the vat - so they pay 20% less in the first place, but then pay import duty at their end.

If their vat/duty rate is less than ours, they pay LESS than if we were both in the EU.

The joke is that all the major steps towards European integration were taken by Tory governments.

In 1963 Harold Macmillan sought entry to the EEC.

Britain became an EEC member state in 1973 under Edward Heath's government.

In 1986 Margaret Thatcher signed the Single European Act.

John Major signed the Maastricht Treaty that established the European Union in 1992.

Hopefully they at least are starting to see the mistake. UKIP are ahead of the game though.

UKIP are just the now detached right-wing of the Tory Party. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19683849. It shows that at their recent conference "was a framed signed portrait photo of Margaret Thatcher", the woman who signed the 1986 Single European Act. Confused.
