woodmally
Why do so many people in this thread think we have the right to free speech in this country? We don't. Banning people from websites is very difficult to maintain, as several of you will know from your own experience. Finally, if the sentences are wrong, that's not the judges fault, that's the Government. Go complain at your MP. Banning people is easy. Sheffield forum issues bans for people. Also deleting offensive comments is also very easy. Think back to the posts on this forum that have got removed even one recently involving a celebrity thats in the news abecause of legal issues. llamatron
Dont you agree that the problem is that some people tend to get offended over nothing these days ,and take printed "words" ,yes ,that `s all it is , "words" to heart too much ,and complain at the slightest little thing they disagree with online. ? I like to refer to these peole as "Professional Complainers" do you think sexually explicit comments about a recently probably murdered 5 year old are "the slightest little thing"? No, but I am sure if you target this guy before long people will be going to jail for saying much less offensive things. Laws are often used this way by oppressive people to get a small wedge in which they use to expand and expand the usage gradually (e.g councils using anti-terror laws to spy on people who are suspected of very minor issues). woodmally
yes and the point was clearly that they then start a new account. However I thought in the modern age they could stop that. Dont they just ban the IP address. The same way the Sheffield forum stops multiple accounts.

woodmally
then you can just use another computer Yes but that is a very long winded way of posting something online. Bans dont work completely thats true but they work enough to be a deterent rather than a prison sentence which costs us a lot more in imprisoning him.
