07.10.12 - Holly Bush 4-2 Sheffield Forum

Recommended Posts

Sheffield Forum produced a very under par performance against Holly Bush on Parson Cross and surrended a 2 goal lead. Following a few decent results and performances, Forum kept the same side with only 1 change, Jason Bowden coming in for the unavailable Nathan Jenkins. Joe Neate was back on the bench as he hadn't kicked a ball for weeks and Andy Coates back in contention following an injury lay off. Others still missing.

Forum pushed from the first whistle and should have taken the lead 3 minutes in but Shane Middlebrooks shot was directed straight at the keeper who parried away. The deadlock was broken early on though from a corner as Ryan Savage sent over the cross, Shaun Baugh powered a header against the bar which then bounced back out and hit a defender yards from goal sending the ball back over the line.

Forum seemed to relax after that and rarely looked threatening with more chances going to the home side. Forum couldn't find their feet and continued to be on the back foot.

On 25 minutes though, Forum doubled their lead. Forum had got the ball down in the middle of the park, found Tom Gray on the edge of the area who rounded 2 players before playing through a perfect ball for Liam Wales down the right. Wales hit a low hard cross and Middlebrook got on the end of it to poke home his 6th of the season.

It looked as though Forum were heading for a win without really performing and they saw the lead through to half time.

HT: Holly Bush 0-2 Sheffield Forum

The 2nd half started as the sun was now out in full force and the cold Sunday morning had warmed up somewhat. Forum needed a better half and almost made it 3 around 55 minutes as Liam Wales broke this time down the left, cut inside and shot on goal but this was well saved.

Back came Holly Bush. A cross from the right was met by the attacker and they pulled it back to just a goal difference. Wthin 5 more minutes they were level with an almost identical goal from the opposite side and Forum now very much on the back foot and struggling.

With around 15 minutes left, Holly Bush took the lead, this time a free kick floated in towards the back post found an unmarked attacker for 3-2.

Forum started to push a little more, Andy Coates who returned to the side and came on for Wales had a decent effort from the left but it was not to be. Forum needed the 3rd goal and never found it.

Late on in the game, a long range effort caught the sunlight in keeper Adam Smiths view and travelled through to the back of the net to kill it off.

A poor performance by the side just as things were looking bright. Back to basics for Forum and time to put it right next game.

Team: Smith, Z. Crownshaw (Neate), Proctor, Baugh, J. Bowden, Wales (Coates), Savage (Gill), C. Crownshaw, Gray, Sheedy, Middlebrook. Unused Sub: Corker
