babylue2885
I am still shopping a wood burner for our house, I am confused with so many kinds of wood stoves, I like real fire, so plan to get a fireplace, but all the ppl around me ask me don't choose it, it is not safe and inefficient. What have you bought for the coming winter, wood burning stove, gas stove or open fireplace? Any post will be appreciated!
Kerrangaroo
What makes them think they aren't safe?
smithy266
Open fires send about 80percent of the heat up the chimney, so are not efficient. But as the fuel can be got for free, why worry?

You can't just go around cutting down trees or even picking up fallen branches.
Sid Umpley
there's loads of free wood about though. next door to Akbars in Rotherham theres a sign up saying as much free wood as you can load into your car. i think its mostly broken pallets and packaging but still free. Bypassblade
We've got a multi fuel stove, best thing EVER bought it burns fuel & wood but we prefer fuel; personal preference.
Bonjon
I ployed with the idea, but with the cost of chimney work and the fire, then getting the fuel it just wasn't cost effective. But if its not for economical reasons then go for it, you can get these fans which dont need power and sit above the stove and convect the heat into the room. The fan seems like a good idea, not heard of these until now, could well be a worthy purchase. Cheers for that
