Upperthorpe
The point is that it wasn't abuse for him was it. In the eyes of the law it is so thats all that should matter
Agent Orange
When I was 15 I was "seduced" by a very attractive 25 year old woman. I spent an Easter weekend with her. I learned a great deal over those few days and have in the fifty odd years since used that experience and have always treated women with respect, gentility and honesty. By todays standards I was "abused" Every 15 year old man should be so "abused", the world would be a better place. I think this is a prime example of the differing viewpoints. For a boy to be abused by an older woman is seen as accpeptable, in a laddish fantasist kind of way, and this has to stop if these crimes are to be dealt with in the same light as older man v girl. robcalder
What about 15 year old girls. Should they be abused too? I have never considered abusing anyone, I have always felt very protective to women, particularly those who are vulnerable due to age, or for any other reason. There are laws, when these laws are broken the guilty should be punished. However, the 30year old teacher who falls in love with the 15 year old girl, how serious an offence is that? My understanding is that in France no such offence exists, also that the age of consent varies from country to country. This is not as straightforward an issue as it seems. The periodic displays of moral outrage by the British public, when we tolerate Page 3, nudity, sexual violence on TV, easy accessed porn on the internet and pay for view porn on late night TV, is hypocritical to say the least. Kerrangaroo
In the eyes of the law it is so thats all that should matter Sometimes the law is an ass. If it's consensual it cannot be abuse. The law shoud be there to protect those who have sex or sexual acts forced on them against their will.

Nothing about my experience was "laddish" or "fantasist" it was enlightening and maturing.

Jessica23
I agree completely about the double standard in general attitudes towards incidents of this kind when the genders are this way round. It'll be interesting to compare the outcome with that of the Megan Stammers case when it happens. Boys should be protected from predatory adults just as much as girls should. You telling me you never fantasised or had laddish discussions about being seduced by a Mrs Robinson type figure?
