green
Students are already paying £9k per annum just for their education nicely landing them with a pile of debt before they are 21. Calling them spoilt ungrateful kids will win you no favours.

Funky_Gibbon
Shops do student discounts to attract the large number of new potential customers Sheffield gets every year. They don't do it for the benefit of the students, it's simply about increasing business. And people with a valid Forces identity card can already get discounts from a large number of stores, listed in the MOD Forces Discount Brochure, or from other schemes such as this one Never let the facts get in the way of a good rant though. I suggest you boycot the shops which offer such discounts then, as it's purely a business decision, not one which is mandated by any sort of government or other organisations rules. Businesses offer student discount almost always because they want to entice students, who often have more disposable cash than they've ever had before, to use their shops and to hopefully develop some brand loyalty for when they finish. Not because they feel they should give something back to the students.

As others have said the discount isn't an entitlement it's a business decision so what's the big deal? What about the Sheffield University offficer training corps should they dare to use their student discount?
Super Hans
Because forces get a full salary and students don't. You shouldn't expect discount just because you do a respectful job, nurses, fireman, policemen, doctors, social workers, if they all got discounts there'd be chaos. If companies want to offer discounts to students then that's their choice, it's part of their business plan. And who are you to suggest they're spoilt and haven't done anything to deserve it? You're an ignorant little fool.

If you want a discount (whether it's a student discount, a military discount, a left-handed-people's discount or any other sort of discount - just ask for it. You'd be amazed just how many companies didn't realise they offer a discount to your particular group [whatever that group may be] until you asked them.:hihi: Don't ask - Don't get. You're an ignorant little fool. Have you ever heard of the word priority, well get yours right! The professions you mentioned come before students on the discount list. As for being in debt, if they stayed out of the boozers getting hammered 7 nights a week they wouldn't be in debt. GET A GRIP.
