Slavery. Does it still exist?

Recommended Posts

......... Does it still exist anywhere in the world?

Yes.

......Do we as a nation trade with nations that practice slavery? now today?

Do nations practice slavery? or individuals within that nation?

Is that nation doing what it can to root out the practice?

We as a nation do continue to trade with countries where slavery exists.

We are ourselves a nation within which slavery continues.

Slavery is illegal in every country now, but it still exists & it's still a big problem. There are (probably) more slaves now than ever before, although it's a lower percentage of the population.

Lots of expats in Dubai have slaves as house keepers. They take their passport so they have nowhere to run to.

No wonder they want to stay.If they are ever forced to leave for some reason, they are going to have to lower their lifestyle if they come back here.

That will be a shock for them, poor things.

Slavery, as in Roots. not wage slaves. Does it still exist anywhere in the world? Do we as a nation trade with nations that practice slavery? now today?

Yep, it exists right here in the UK, people are illegally trafficked into the UK and forced into domestic slaves, sex slaves, working in the service sector, restaurant, hotels for well below the minimum wage.

How do you know they are not smuggled rather than trafficked? Of course there is some blurring between the two.
