MrMoran
Definitely get your MP involved Ill pass that on. Shes got a meeting with the year head and the principle tomorrow. Shes asking for a written account of where the money goes and what lessons and activities he does. Her biggest concern is the removal of the special needs class. This boy has been thrust into "normal" classes all this school year andthe school never said a word. This, in her eyes accounts for his recent change in behaviour and mood and the fact hes too tired for his out of school activities. She thought it was hormones and i suppose it could be but the harder school day could be a factor too.

She will not get a written account.Perhaps he should cut down the out of school side of things if tired.By the way the law requires that students are taught in mainstream classes rather than be placed in alternative spaces which can carry stigma. JFKvsNixon
As other have also said, you need to check the statement as the 20 hours a week statement may well not be one to one support.

cgksheff
......... Shes asking for a written account of where the money goes and what lessons and activities he does. ........ She may be lucky, but the school doesn't have to show her an account of the money. She is entitled to see how the school is fulfilling their responsibility in providing the support as specified in the statement. It could well be that a special needs class was over and above that requirement. However, for the school to change the manner of providing support without communicating with the parents is deplorable.
cgksheff
Thanks, ill pass that on. Did she talk to the school, then? What did they say? .... or did she just run straight to The Star? Publicity of that kind is of no benefit to the child.
mikeyt
Monies should really be ringfenced rather than just getting swallowed into a big budget.
medusa
Monies should really be ringfenced rather than just getting swallowed into a big budget. Yes, they should be, but that doesn't mean that the support is in one to one teaching necessarily. Support can be supplied in a whole lot of ways.
