Dreadful, the second in Wisconsin this year. Surely the argument that the right to bear arms is coming apart. You never hear of these nutters being stopped by a member of the general public with a gun.

Did you start a thread about the guy who tried to kill 14 people (killing one) in Cardiff less than 2 days ago? Or is the resounding point here it happened in the USA? dvp82
Yes the resounding point here is that this has happened again in the United States. This is the 4th mass shooting I can think of to happen in just over 12 weeks.
Happ Hazzard
Shopping malls are horrible places, I can understand someone going mental with despair at humanity in such a place.
Vague_Boy
Surely the argument that the right to bear arms is coming apart. No. This is a major cultural difference between us and our "cousins". The right to bear arms is seen as an important personal freedom, like the right to vote. In the UK, such a right isn't a major issue at all, so it's hard for us to understand how important it is to them.

Rupert_Baehr
Dreadful, the second in Wisconsin this year. Surely the argument that the right to bear arms is coming apart. What makes you say that? "There have been two un-connected mass shootings in one state this year so the right to bear arms should be overturned?" On what grounds? AFAIK; Wisconsin is not renowned for being a state which has a particularly high level of firearm ownership, nor is it renowned for having lax rules. ('The Right to bear Arms' is a constitutional right, but that doesn't mean that State or local government cannot limit where and when you may exercise that right.) When full-bore pistols were banned in the UK, the number of people who owned such weapons lawfully fell almost to zero, but the number of full-bore pistols held by criminals increased considerably. I suspect (and you may be hard-put to find the exact figures) that the number of crimes in which firearms were used in the UK has increased significantly since 1997, when most full-bore handguns were banned. You never hear of these nutters being stopped by a member of the general public with a gun. Could that be because such events tend not to make the news in the UK? poppins
Seems the husband didn't like his restraining order to stay from the woman, by the looks of his photo he looks like a baddie... If guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.
