L00b Posted October 22, 2012 Share Posted October 22, 2012 Surely they have time to train people in areas where there are skill shortages.Their age pyramid is way more borked than ours: their population is aging faster than ours, is growing slower than ours, and they do not have as large an immigration to compensate for it as the UK does. That's exactly what the problem is, and what the article is about. Their education system, as excellent as it is (and it is), cannot compensate for that: you need enough students first I'd see that article as some evidence that the UK is 'winning' in the long run socio-economic stakes (i.e. skilled workers coming here rather then Germany is a good thing for the UK, keeps it/makes the UK more competitive).
