MPs' expenses claims- they still don't get it!

Recommended Posts

Or, like George Osborne, they can watch laugh out loud videos in first class, fiddle their ticket and not expect to pay unless caught, (and not even then,)

and inform the inspector they 'couldn't possibly be expected to sit in cattle class with the plebs...' when actually, sitting in second class might give them the chance to seek the views of 'ordinary' people... A very valuable piece of research.

Total number of MP by party at Westminster

Con 304

Lab 252

Lib 57

Number that have claimed First class travel in last 12 months

Con 48

Lab 113

Lib 19

Percentage claiming first class travel

Con 15.7%

Lab 44.8%

Lib 33.3%

Bearing in mind that ministers often get summoned to meetings at short notice when a second class seat might not be available I think we can see which party thinks it is too good to mix with the masses.

Apparently "first class" can be four times more expensive than "standard tickets".

After the expenses debacle they were instructed NOT to use first class.

As it has been reported, they made a claim for the travel, if they received the payment that's irrelevant, the fact is they should NOT have claimed for it in the first place. It's not a difficult rule to understand.:loopy:

Angel.

I fully agree and hope the press query it with them

Nobody of course, Anna B just made that part up.

His female aid is quoted as saying it (apart from the plebs word, she said 'ordinary people,')) to the inspector when trying to argue against a man of Osborne's importance having to pay for an upgrade without paying. (It must be great to have an assistant to fight your corner for you, it would be too demeaning for words to have to do it one's self. However the inspector was having none of it and insisted Osborne pay. However George wasn't so concerned about his security as he refused to pay for his policeman who was relegated to the second class carriage.

Do you have any comment on the 133 Labour MP's who have claimed for first class rail fares?
