cardoor
Bob Crow earns a six figure salary and still lives in his council house, his response here http://www.lbc.co.uk/should-bob-crow-have-a-council-house-59141 So should well off people like Bob Crow be entitled to a council house? Or should they be exclusively for low earners, like Hammersmith & Fulham Council with their 40,000 a household threshold. http://www.insidehousing.co.uk/tenancies/hammersmith-and-fulham-confirms-allocation-plans/6524226.article If so then how is this going to be enforceable when households income like ours fluctuate due to the nature of the work we do? Obelix
Presumably he didn't start on the figure when he had a house? As long as he pays his council tax, and if he moves he's not elegible for moving to a new council house I can't see the problem. Making someone move just because they happen to get a pay rise, or increasing their rent excessivly is hardly a smart idea.
gnvqsos
If people want to live in a council house it is fine. Most people fall for the trap of ownership to make money. The concept of public housing is a noble one and if done to a high standard could become the norm. The sale of houses in the 1980s has reduced the stock of housing especially in desirable locations rendering social housing a last resort rather than a first choice as in Turkmenisten Lithuania and North Korea. This is recurring question on Sheffield Forum (I think there was a thread on it a few months ago. No doubt if Bob Crowe lived in a a nice suburban house with en suite bathrooms he's get it in the neck for being a 'champagne socialist'.
geared
If he grew up there and earnt his impressive pay while he worked there he is more than entitled to stay. He should not benefit from subsidised rent tho.

mediumfast
I presume the council has a criteria to be eligible for social housing,if he fitted the criteria and as a result was found to be eligible why is this even in the news?
