geared Posted May 12, 2015 Share Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) On a comparative study with UK it's got low wages ,high taxes,cheap food products ,better benefits ,high unemploment .Does anyone has views to share about finding a job in IT field,adaptability . Err who told you all that?? because it's nonsense. They have higher (relatively) wages, but also a higher cost of living. The economy is starting to hit the skids now though as it's heavily skewed towards selling to China, and China ain't buying no more. The exchange rate is near enough £1 to $2, which makes it easier to figure out relative costs when looking around at things. They describe very well the sort of Englishman (I don't think Somers considered himself "British") who didn't then, and wouldn't now, fit in in Australia. We came out in 1967, and all our children say they are grateful to us. They have visited Sheffield and London and Brid, but would rather live here. True it is expensive and not as easy to emmigrate there as people think, but there are ways and means, especially if you use an emmigration company. P'haps you could give it a try with a back packing holiday as a taster. If you're smitten with it, it will give you the stamina to jump through all the necessary hoops.
