Sheffield Half Marathon Route

Does anyone know the rough route that previous Sheffield Marathons and Half Marathons have followed?

I've decided to enter this year's half marathon and I'd like to find out the route details so I can go and have a practice on the real route.

The official site says the following...

The Half Marathon again uses the more runner and spectator friendly route in 2004 through the City Centre with minor modifications due to the reconstruction projects which are taking palce in the city. Details are still being finalised and will be posted on this site as soon as available. As before, the start and finish remain within the magnificent surrounds and facilities of the Don Valley Stadium.

So I suppose I'll find out eventually, but it would be great to know now!

Many thanks,

Rich.

I assume the route must leave Don Valley and head towards the city via Attercliffe. I've heard there are a couple of shallow hills early in the race - but it seems pretty flat between Don Valley and town.

I'm dead scared that the "shallow hills" turn out to be Jenkin Road, and I won't find out until the starter's pistol goes off! :o

The official route has been sent out with race numbers, but in case anyone is interested in running in this but hasn't entered yet, a rough map of the route is on my site here.

No Jenkin Road on the route  , in fact the course is very forgiving, with only 150m to climb from the start to the "summit" at Devonshire Green. The only significant hills are at Cemetery Road, Rockingham St/Fitzwilliam Street (both of these are only a few hundred yards long) and Ecclesall Road (not really a hill, but a bit of a grim mile or so).

Good luck to everyone who's running!
