mart
I have found clenching my toes when in the dentist's chair helps:D Yes. I think that is focussing the mind on something else, as opposed to the pain (being the precursor) releasing the endorphins to numb the pain, and also making one feel nice inside like “runner’s high” does. If extreme exercise can release these great natural chemicals, and being caned (as in the article), I am wondering if there are any other catalysts? cressida
making one feel nice inside like “runner’s high” does. Really? then I'd better warn Pete that could be addictive;)
Harleyman
No wonder I'm a happy chappie who never became an alcoholic. It must have been all that caning I got in school
medusa
How can anybody say that artificially stimulated endorphins aren't addictive? The euphoric state is exactly the same as one caused by taking pills and it can be just as addictive.
