Has it always been like this or has the problem started recently?

it was fine this afternoon, and then at tea time wouldnt work? i cant smell gas, but if you hold the knob it works, the grill works fine and the hobs, just not the oven?

We had a cooker that did this, and it was also an indesit. It was the thermocouple or something that had gone. We used to use a spoon to to hold the button in, the handle wedging in the oven door handle. We couldn't get it repaired for some reason, but this is probably 13 years ago.

i read somewhere on the internet that it could be that thermocouple thing, we used a chair to hold the button in to do tea! i cant smell gas so im hoping it will be safe till i can get a new cooker :(, cheers for that carlas cat :)
