Andy C
The former Forest pub on Rutland Street has been bought and following refurbishment is to reopen as a freehouse called THE WOODSIDE TAVERN with 6 real ales (this number will grow if there is sufficient custom to justify it). This pub is about 5-10 minutes walk from the Gardeners Rest. Opening date is Friday 16th November Opening hours: Monday-Thursday 4pm-11pm, Friday-Sunday 12pm-11:30pm. Live music Saturday nights, quiz night Sunday. Dominoes and Cribbage Tue & Thurs nights. Address is 48 Rutland Street, Sheffield S3 9PA. Public transport - First bus 53 to Gardeners Rest on Neepsend Lane , walk back to traffic lights and turn left up Rutland Road. Rutland Street will be on your right. Alternatively TM Travel bus 2 drops off at the top end of Rutland Road. Get off as it turns onto Cooks Wood Road, walk down Rutland Road and Rutland Street will be on your left. See http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com for more details of buses. Note if you are walking from the Harlequin/Cat/Kelham there is a bit of a shortcut, suggest looking at google maps. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=S3+9PA.&hl=en&sll=47.73855,12.508828&sspn=48.813176,79.013672&t=h&hnear=Sheffield+S3+9PA,+United+Kingdom&z=

Tuffty
I trust that (in the spirit of being a good traditional local) they have retained the strippers...

rickiethecat
I wish them well but with the location being in a run down industrial area which is already overstocked with real ale pubs, I can't see them getting too much trade. What Sheffield really needs is proper local real ale pubs in working class residential areas. If you live in places like Gleadless, Parson Cross or Arbourthorne for example, what few pubs have survived tend to be keg only rough places and real ale is hard to find. Maybe drinking real ale is considered a middle class thing these days?
Andy C
Note due to a power cut in the area this pub will now be opening 4pm Saturday.
