Magilla
Why have I? That's a pretty poor attempt at discreditation BTW. It's not an attempt, it's the truth that anyone who's followed this forum for a few weeks can see is self evident from your own posts. I was actually awaiting your response because I knew *exactly* what it would be! You came through as always. And another thing, everyone knows who the most vocal people on these and other forums are; people only have to look back over the years of threads to see that. Exactly, and in the context to which I refer, you're one of them! Hence why I called you a hypocrite after your response to Obelix. I mean, I could have started a thread about the possibility that the current governments educational quango has dumbed down students results this year, probably on government instructions, but didn't. If you can back-up your assumption with anything other than hyperbole, then you should. Yet as soon as some anti socialist story hits the headlines, some people break the speed of light to get here and post it all over. Like you do when the shoe is on the other foot. My post isn't about the socialist story, it's about your rank hypocrisy.
WallBuilder
So he's been suspended but I'd like to know is he still getting any expenses or other income, does he have to repay the expenses and why isn't it a law that any MP caught fiddling gets kicked out of both their party and hopefully are never allowed to be an MP again
High Green
Why the voters of Rotherham re-elected him after his poor performance as Minister for Europe Because Rotherham will always be a Labour constituency, irrespective of the candidates' merits or lack of them. southcoast
This euro-fanatical, fiddling MP has brought shame upon both his constituency and his profession. Not only will he be suspended but to quote the Labour party spokesman; "These are very serious findings concerning Denis MacShane and we accept his statement this morning that his career as a Labour MP is effectively over. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-20178332 Why the voters of Rotherham re-elected him after his poor performance as Minister for Europe-he was sacked by Brown-and his glorification of the Euro plus the scandal over claiming expenses for his garage as an office is beyond comprehension.McShane has done absolutely nothing for the voters and residents of Rotherham but he has done plenty for his bank account. How much longer do we have to wait for him to resign and force a by-election? Simple because like many in South Yorkshire they would vote a monkey in if it had a red rossette, they get what they deserve.
Patriot
So he's been suspended but I'd like to know is he still getting any expenses or other income, does he have to repay the expenses and why isn't it a law that any MP caught fiddling gets kicked out of both their party and hopefully are never allowed to be an MP again The answer is in the BBC news story. The MPs suggested of the £12,900 of claims he made it was likely around £7,500 were "outside the rules", although Mr MacShane has repaid the entire £12,900. Ms Macbeth
Because Rotherham will always be a Labour constituency, irrespective of the candidates' merits or lack of them. I worked for Rotherham MBC in the late 90s when it was rocked by the scandal of the then deputy leader appropriating funds that were supposed to be used to help alleviate poverty in South Yorkshire. He was jailed for 2 years, for plotting to steal £172,000. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2511047.stm I felt there was something particularly sleazy in a Labour councillor, purporting to represent the workers, stealing money meant for the very poorest in the area. Having a political make up of almost 100% one party doesn't make for healthy local government IMO, regardless of which party. Rotherham now has 54 labour councillors out of 63 in total. A bit of a decrease from when I lived and worked there when I believe at one time it had 61.
geared
Because Rotherham will always be a Labour constituency, irrespective of the candidates' merits or lack of them. Same with Barnsley, their Labour candidate was caught up in the expenses scandel and got re-elected anyway, and now he's in prison because of it all. You do wonder if some people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

He is the elected MP, and gets the full MP's package. It's just too daft to laugh at, most folk would say I suppose. Angel.

He won't have any Parliamentary expenses because he's not allowed to attend. So no need for travel, overnight stays or meals. Hopefully he won't be able to claim for his second home either, because he won't need that. He'll resign soon anyway. He's been all but booted out of the Labour Party in disgrace. Rotherham deserves Parliamentary representation too.
