I think it's trying to be something in between broadchurch and midsummer murders and not hitting either. Some good performances in there though - particularly the troubled teenage girl. It's a bit cliched. Not NCIS New Orleans cliched (which makes regular NCIS look like true detective) but not the stone-face of broadchurch. ---------- Post added 03-03-2015 at 15:37 ---------- Finished The casual vacancy last night. Very brutal though (think City of God-brutal), this really isn't your run of the mill 'made-for-TV-sanitised' violence, so sensible types may want to abstain.
