mumsie51
We are interested in buying a house that has had a Survey carried out and would like to purchase a copy from the Surveyor. The Estate Agent refused to give me the name of the Surveyor and told me that the Survey was the property of the person who instructed the Survey. When I worked for a firm of Chartered Surveyors in Scotland purchasing a copy of the Survey was known as a "Tap In" and was a regular occurence, are "Tap Ins" not allowed in England? Thank you in advance for any advice anyone can give me.

Tony
The EA is correct and a reputable surveyor won't give you something that belongs to somebody else, and you couldn't act on it legally. The quick workaround that should save you a few pounds is to speak to the vendor, they give permission to the surveyor, and you pay the surveyor as a fresh instruction for a copy of the survey in your name.
