Smoking?

Sex is the most lethal weapon ever created. Billions of people have been killed because of people having sex.

"Life" is a fatal sexually transmitted disease.

Use contraception or be responsible for somebody's death.

US surgeon Alton Ochsner recalled that when he was a medical student in 1919 his class was summoned to observe an autopsy of a lung cancer victim. At that time, the disease was so rare it was thought unlikely the students would ever get another chance.

But by the year 2000, it was estimated that 1.1 million people were dying annually from the disease, with about 85% of those cases stemming from a single cause - tobacco.

"The cigarette is the deadliest artefact in the history of human civilisation," says Robert Proctor of Stanford University. "It killed about 100 million people in the 20th Century."

Why do people still take up this vile habit?

This invention has killed over 100,000 people in the UK alone since 1926

How many people is this invention responsible for killing??

One of the biggest killers on our planet

Tobacco was used for centuries before the Europeans discovered it. It grows naturally on our planet, always has, always will.

People still use it, because they want to. If you don't like it......tuff tit's! Get over it and sod off!

There's a million and one things that I don't like, but I would never dream of telling someone to stop doing it. This is still a free country, and long may it continue to be so! I won't bother you with my cigarettes, as long as you don't bother me with your anti-smoking BS!

100,000,000, wow, that's a big number. Yet it is only 1.4% of the current world population.

Using a crude death rate of 7.99/1000 people for the year 2000 we get ~48,000,000 people dying of which 935,000 died of smoking related lung cancer giving 1.9% of global deaths in the year 2000 down to smoking.
