Ex soldier jailed for having a gun

You seem to be trying to suggest that controlling who owns a gun isn't an effective way of reducing gun crime.I'm not saying it would be popular or easy to implement in the USA, but it is effective, there's plenty of proof that it works.

That proves that with wide open borders prohibiting firearms doesn't work.

How do you exercise control over a gang member who buys his Glock or AK out of a car trunk in some out of the way back lot?

90 percent of gun crimes are committed by criminals who have unregistered and ilegally owned weapons in their possession.

These people in most cases already have criminal records for some misdemeanour or other and cannot therefore purchase firearms legally

From time to time the L.A Police and Sheriff's department declare an amnesty on illegally owned firearms. The weapon is turned in and no questions asked. Sometimes the number of weapons and the different types would be enough to stock a small armoury. But how many dont turn in illegal and unregistered firearms? That's the question that counts above all?

All the above is strictly a matter between the law and the criminal element and has absolutely nothing to do with people like me and millions of others who purchased firearms legally and which have been duly registered as belonging to us. We dont need to be part of any argument about the pros and cons of gun control

Statistically irrelevant. We can probably identify somebody who has a club foot and a hump if we search the records hard enough, but that doesn't mean hunchbacks do most of the shooting.

Do you deny that the majority of gun crime, being part of the 'gang' cutlure, is perpetrated by non-white ethnic groups?

They might deny it if they believe that the Al Capone era is still an accurate and relevent picture of modern day gangs in major cities :D
