We are all in it together. Are we not!

no it doesnt

in very very very certain circumstances you can work yourself to the top, in most cases you cant, in most cases you get shafted, in most cases they are born into the wealth, position of power

dont try that one

That's the mantra of those who don't want to better themselves, to excuse their failure.

none of that actually makes sense regarding this current climate, EVERYTHING "they" are doing, is shafting us, yet THEY are getting richer

sure i read lately theres been unrest in something like 23 european countries over auseterity measures

Do you personally know any of the 'THEY'. Probably not !! So who are 'THEY' that are getting all this money.

With regard to unrest in 23 other European countries....they are no different to us. Full of people who haven't made a 'peep' in the past 20 years of 'good times' but now that the bubble has burst they don't want to cut back on the 'necessities?? in life, they don't want to work harder and they have NO SOLUTION to todays problems apart from the say that 'THEY' are screwing us !!!

so me losing nurses, drs, police, army is me not trying to better myself?

at the same time while bankers, utility companies, mps are patting themsleves on the back and paying each other extraordinary rises, even in the event of failure due to me not trying to better myself?

i think not

NO. Reducing numbers in the NHS, the Police or the Army is as a direct result of mis-spending and over borrowing in the past. The cutting back of services is a direct result of having not enough money anymore.

Instead of moaning about it, why not do something that increases the cash coming into your household and therefore shields you from any negative impacts. That would be bettering yourself.

Secondly, Bankers, Utility companies, etc are faceless companies so again I ask exactly WHO within those companies are getting massive rises. I think this is more to do with media trying to stir up the country.

Is your hobby ' Being a feckless idiot'?

Have you considered that some parts of 'humanity' have evolved to such a stage that they appreciate art ... something that humans alone can appreciate? Do you realize that by saying 'Someone called Raphael' and 'worthless piece of paper' makes you sound like pondweed?

Are you saying that Raphael is rubbish?

The guy's dead ... one of the most important artists ever (for reasons that would be wasted on you) Why do you think people pay so much to own what he's made?

It's patently obvious that someone with money would be selling the picture ... that's how things work.

Have you ever been to Chatsworth and seen the herculean efforts put in by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire to allow people, like even yourself, to appreciate what separates us from monkeys? ... I think not.

Do you comprehend how much it costs the Devonshires to allow/maintain virtually free access to the world's history of the arts ... once again, I think not.

I bet you don't mind spending a bob or two going to Alton Towers (buy one-get one free) or adorning your walls with Athena 'Girl scratching her bottom' posters?

Do you not think, that by selling this picture, they may just use the proceeds to educate someone like yourself ... is it actually worth it? Who can tell.

Thank you for your kind reply.

It always fascinates me that some posters on the Forum attack the O.P. and not the points raised.

Anyway here goes,

To be accused of being a feckless idiot by some one who sees spooks in his, her? cellar is quite flattering to say the least.

You then go on to state that I do not appreciate art by this Raphael bloke well you are correct but! I do have a Pete McKee Castle Market scene [signed] on my wall that cost me £40 [approx a third of my weekly income] and so I make sacrifices to art.

However if this McKee ever comes to be worth 15 million quid I declare here and now that I will donate the lot to the homeless and destitute people in our Country.

I will also tell any of my descendants to do the same as stolen wealth is no wealth at all.[ as is the case with the inherited landed gentry]

The pond weed dig is interesting as I am a frog breeder but will not go on about that.

It is so nice of the Duke and Duchess to allow us mere mortals to look around their house it must be so hard for them having the peasants milling around even though they have paid the extortionate entrance fee.

I have met the Duchess by the way as she once invited me to tea due to some charity work I did, but that is by the way as I still think that she and all this Country's Land stealer's are just that!

Never been to Alton Towers either nor do I have a picture of that gorgeous tennis lass scratching her bum on my wall but if Pete McKee does a spoof I will get one.

Your last point [ithink] On whether the Duke and his Duchess should spend THEIR money on trying to educate some one like me seems a good idea as I think that all man kind [Lady's to] should be born equal and all should have the very best education available whether they have inherited wealth or not.

I get it perfectly thanks. I'm not one moaning about inequalities and the mysterious 'THEY'.

Those that sit on their 'rears' without considering how they can make things better for themselves are the ones that don't get it my friend. And as long as they continue to wait for something to 'drop into their lap' they will continue to moan about how unfair life is !!!!
