Bevers
Hi all, I am a member of a research team at the Department of Psychology at The University of Sheffield. We're currently conducting an experiment looking at ASMR or 'brain tingles', and need to recruit participants. We're defining ASMR as: "tingling sensations that start at the top of your head in response to certain stimuli such as sounds, including whispering, soft-speaking, tapping and crinkling". The study takes about 30 minutes and takes place at the Department of Psychology on Western Bank, just next to Weston Park Museum and just up from the children's hospital. During the study you'll be asked to watch a series of videos whilst being connected to sensors that record your physiological reactions. The sensors are completely non-invasive - they will just involve putting a band around your waist (over your clothing) and attaching 3 clasps onto your fingertips. We are interested in people who both DO and DO NOT experience ASMR so please sign up if you'd like to help. If you are unsure whether you experience ASMR then we suggest watching the following video to see if you experience brain tingles: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheWaterwhispers If you'd like to take part in this study then please complete the following 5 minute survey which will ask you some questions about yourself. At the end of the survey you will be redirected to a bookings page where you can sign up for a suitable time and date to complete the experiment. https://sheffieldpsychology.eu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_74fS8wi4svBTs8Z If you have any questions, then please email asmr.sheffield(at)gmail(dot)com. Also, feel free to check out our website for more information. http://www.psychologyofmusic.co.uk/ASMR/survey.html All responses will be strictly anonymous and confidential. You may withdraw from the study at any point before or during your participation. This study has been approved by the Department of Psychology's Research Ethics Committee and is being carried out under the supervision of Professor Peter Totterdell. Thanks for your interest. It's proving difficult to recruit people who experience ASMR based in Sheffield as a lot of people don't know what it is when we try and recruit through our normal methods, so finding this thread is very exciting!
