algy
Just to put it in proportion, there are approximately 760 members of the House of Lords, including 26 Anglican bishops and archbishops, all of whom are crossbenchers, and 92 hereditary members. algy
I would suspect that a significant number are "confirmed batchelors" Based on what? How many other members of the Lords are unmarried would you suspect? Should it disqualify them from membership?
gnvqsos
Considering the average age of the congregation is well over seventy and the synod is doing everything it can to thwart new blood, I can't disagree. Looking at what is happening in Uganda though, I wouldn't like to be Gay in Africa anytime now. It is ironic that gays are persecuted even in places like Harare Lagos and Tinbuttku. Don't worry about it. I can't be bothered to explain.

Glennis
Why do women want to be bishops in an old fashioned, male dominated organisation? It's like a black person complaining that the NF wouldn't give them membership. Or a socialist moaning about not being allowed to be a Tory. Because its better to be on the inside of an organization in order to bring about change.

They are cross-bnechers so it adds some sanity to politics What a superstitious octogenarian in robes wearing a dodgy hat, addressing the woolsack is an act of sanity-help!!!!
