IT outsourcing & jobs

Recommended Posts

far as I know, HP are still contracted to undertake 2nd line support for all their applications and desktop services via their call centres in the North East.

This doesn't sound good for the folks who work in the Sheffield office, is HP an IT company or is it going to turn itself into a glorified call centre because doing any real technical work is "too difficult"?

Hi Ablemabel

Whilst Outsourcing companies do offshore the call logging and 1st line services they will usually employ 2nd/3rd line staff throughout the world. Part of their savings is not having staff locally on site with the client so typically a customer call not closed by 1st line would be escalated to 2nd line and 2nd line staff would connect remotely to assist....theoretically you could be anywhwere in the world. If you search and establish the names of some outsourcing companies you would be interested in working for their websites will give details of vacancies. ATOS and SERCO often have vacancies

Good luck having worked directly for a company and as an outsourced resource there is good and bad to both sides
