JIM SMALLMAN

Jim’s a professional stand-up comedian based in Leicester. He’s been performing since 2005 and in that time has been lucky enough to get to travel the length and breadth of Britain and internationally making people laugh. He’s notched up the odd competition final appearance (Laughing Horse New Act Final in 2006, Leicester Mercury / Equity New Act Final in 2007), and was nominated for his first hour long show (nominated for best debut show in the 2009 Leicester Comedy Festival). He has also won two awards during the first ever Hollywood Fringe in 2010 - Best Comedy Performance and Best International Show.

He has sell out shows in 2011 & 2012 at the Edinburgh Festival with shows entitled "Tattooligan" and “Lets Be Friends”.

“Wonderfully gritty … his struggles with mental illness and alcoholism make for impressive comic pickings” - The Guardian, 2010

“It’s obvious that Jim Smallman is a natural-born compere. He has such an easy rapport with the audience and tells his tales with a fluidity and energy that keeps everyone attentive. He could talk the hind legs off a donkey, but you suspect the donkey wouldn’t really mind … he’s an instinctive storyteller who draws out the humour in every anecdote. On the comedy spectrum, he falls somewhere between Frank Skinner and Dave Gorman … his silver-tongued banter is likely to charm most audiences” Chortle, 2009

“A talented comic” - TimeOut, 2010

“The second he focuses, he’s unbeatable … there’s an anger and sarcasm worthy of Jack Dee, Jo Brand, maybe even Bill Hicks. And all the time there’s this sense of impotent outrage, of righteous frustration, that’s up there with Basil Fawlty, the Blackadder dynasty, maybe even vintage Alexei Sayle” - 4Laughs, 2009

“Smallman playfully ruminates on his very comic life experiences… an engaging and entertaining performance and a truly enjoyable evening” - Three Weeks, 2010

"... Jim Smallman also shone. He's been on the stand-up circuit for less than two years, yet he looked completely at home in this lofty company. A laconic, sarcastic gag machine, he's certainly a comedian to keep an eye on" - Lincolnshire Echo, 2007

DAVE LONGLEY

Dave returns after another very successful run at this year’s Edinburgh Festival. Dave is a rising star of the UK circuit headlining nearly every comedy club in the country.

Cutting edge comedy from a newcomer making massive waves on the UK comedy circuit. His thought provoking, yet accessible material and style takes tricky issues to any audience. He also does knob gags. From sell out critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe shows to the UK and International comedy scene, Dave is very much in demand.

"Newcomer Longley has the makings of a uniquely fascinating act."- Chortle

"There's a lot of stuff Dave does that I wish I'd written." – Ed Byrne

“highly original and bloody funny.” – Three Weeks

"Clever and funny" – Gill Isles, BBC Comedy Unit

PHIL BUTLER

As soon as Phil joined the UK comedy circuit, he found himself closing the show at all the major comedy clubs such as Jongleurs, Highlight, The Comedy Store, The Glee Club, The Banana Comedy Club, Bearcat, Baby Blue, Hyena Comedy Café, Last Laugh, but to name a few. Phil has also had the great honour of performing for our British troops in Iraq, Kosovo, Bosnia, Croatia and several times in Afghanistan. Phil was amongst the first comedians to perform to the troops on the front line, and even received a medal for his time there.

Dipping his toe into an acting career he had a cameo role in BBCs 'Hotel Babylon' and a TV advert for the AA. He is currently producing and hosting an internet radio show called 'The Green Room' which is recorded backstage on the comedy circuit with interviews and clips of the show. Past interviews have included; Jimmy Carr, Jim Jefferies, Milton Jones, Rufus Hound and Lee Mack. It's a free podcast available at http://www.thegreenroompodcast.com, http://www.philbutler.co.uk and iTunes. Also a star of the major BBC documentary 'A Funny Business' - 2006

"Phil Butler's got it all ... unique, original and hilarious" - The Stage and Television Today

"Without doubt, one of the most exciting and original finds in comedy in recent years" - The Guardian

"Phil brought the house down with a truly original and riotous act of visual comedy" The Mirror
