Status of EU citizens

Recommended Posts

UKIP has no animus against European people nor the EU. It simply wishes the UK not to be governed by them.

Mr Farage said that the huge influx of migrants in recent years had left public services unable to cope with the increase in demand.

He said: "We need a five-year gap so we can absorb the recent waves of migrants, particularly from eastern Europe.

"The Government said there would only be a few thousand coming to this country, and instead it's been millions.

"The problem isn't people from outside the EU, who we can control, but the unlimited immigration from within to whom we cannot refuse entry."

Why have you got issues with my question ,are you polish or something, why I am asking is frankly none of your business

I don't have any issue with your question, depending on why you asked it. That's why I have asked you.

And since you asked it on an public forum as a new thread, inviting answers and opinions, it is as much my business as that of any other poster who wants to contribute.

I'm "something", btw.

You seem a bit defensive. I wouldn't have thought asking you for your motivation for a question you posted on an open forum was necessarily intrusive.

Could this explain your defensiveness and reluctance to answer?

oooh look the thought police are here again, bet you enjoyed searching my posts didnt you saddo.

As to being defensive not at all,I think its a valid question, shame you dont treat it as such.

Perhaps you'd like to tell us why it is valid then?

Please post what you like, I have no intention of being the thought police. I just wondered if pondering the enforced removal of European citizens (Poles in particular) from one particular territory might be connected to you interest in National Socialism.

I quoted the same post back to you when you were discussing the future of Israel, as I'm sure you remember, for exactly the same reason.

Dont worry its nothing against the poles, its a valid question on the status of all E U citizens if we leave the EU.Seems to me if we leave and dont include any clauses in our withdrawal that leaves all EU citizens here as illegal immgrants.By the way National Socialism has many things to commend it,I suggest you take a good luck but thats another topic isnt it.

Do you have a problem with social nationalism?

There is no simple answer to the OP except that our situation would be different.

The UK currently has agreements with EU, EFTA (non EU European countries like Norway and Switzerland) and through these with other countries worldwide which allow UK businesses and citizens to trade, work and reside in those countries. Some of these predate and some are outside EU law and so may not change on UK status but all reciprocal EU/EFTA arrangements would change.

The position of UK workers, property owners, tax payers, visitors, students and pensioners in Europe could change radically. Our right under European law to bank, drive, reside, own property, have access to medical care etc would go forcing a new set of agreements to be established with each individual country.

The ability of Non Europeans businesses to trade freely between their UK base and EU/EFTA countries could also change. This uncertainty would be a factor in the attractiveness of the UK as a major base for current and future businesses from outside Europe.

I'm only aware of one country having tried it, Germany from 1933 to 1945 and it wasn't a great success. Other than the destruction of most of a continent and tens of millions of dead what is there to commend about it?
