maxmaximus
25 year old single male just starting work with contracted working hours of 16 plus hours on minimum wage, and he can't live at home because it to far away. If he works 16 hours he would qualify for housing benefits and council tax benefits, for each extra hour he works he would lose some of his benefits. When he gets to 30 hours he qualifies for tax credits and not housing benefits. He doesn’t when or what hours he will work from week to week so doesn’t know which benefit to apply for. LeMaquis
He should apply for them all, particularly Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. They are dependent on his income. He can notify the council of his changes in income week by week by showing them his pay slips. If he's working 30 hours or more regularly the chances are he'll be earning too much for HB and CTB as well as Tax Credits but he can still apply. I1L2T3
What advice do you want? Stay at home living with the parents and don't be a drain on the public purse - current Conservative policy Get on your bike and look for work - previous Conservative policy Or maybe you could go to CAB?
