maxmaximus
Tougher sentences shouldn’t mean longer sentences it should mean tougher, less pleasant sentences with plenty of hard work.
alchresearch
Just like anyone found with a knife was going to get 5 years, whatever happened to that law? https://www.gov.uk/find-out-if-i-can-buy-or-carry-a-knife The maximum penalty for an adult carrying a knife is 4 years in prison and a fine of £5,000. Total Chaos
As well as tougher sentences new offences have also come into force today. Some prisoners will have to serve two thirds of their sentence before become eligible for parole instead of half the sentence. There are also mandatory life sentences for anyone committing a second serious violent or sexual crime. Will it make a difference? Thats all fine and dandy,BUT the judges never give the tough sentences out, thats the problem.
