Halibut
If anyone can point me in the direction of one convincing argument against gay marriage and/or one non-homophobic argument against it I'd really *love* to see it. I don't believe either exists. Sign me up for that idea too.
mikem8634
I don't know any homophobes so I would know if any oppose gay marriage. That would be a Freudian slip of the greatest magnitude.
PaliRichard
The thing I don't understand is this. I was allowed to get married in a Church, and I'm of faith but not a Christian. Non Religious people are allowed to get married in a Church. So why shouldn't gays be allowed to get married in a Church? I can understand (and agree to an extent) that some clergy may see it as being against their belief and therefore not wish to preside over a same sex marriage, fair enough - but why would they think that is wrong yet marrying someone who doesn't believe in God at all is perfectly reasonable? This is the argument for me and it's one that seems totally hypocritical on behalf of the Church - it makes no logical sense whatsoever.

Garbo
the one good thing about making it illegal in church is that it just makes the church look more outmoded and ridiculous than it already does

Agreed - How on earth can it be easier to get married if you do not believe in god but are heterosexual than it is if you have great faith but are homosexual? Makes no sense. maxmaximus
I can only speak for myself. For me the lack of any convincing reason suggests strongly it's simply homophobia. That would just demonstrate your intolerance of people with the religious belief that being gay is a sin.
mikem8634
Increasingly evasive Max. How about some straight answers to straight questions? Do you accept that chances are some people who oppose gay marriage are homophobic? Do you oppose gay marriage? Any answers Max?
