999tigger
Its all aimed at photo opportunities for comrade Dore and her council cronies. They would attend the opening of a bag of crisps if there was a chance of getting their smirking mugshot in the papers. Still , its amazing what having a few pushbike riders having a ride around the city can do for moral and workrate among council roadlayers. Normally it would take 6 months of disruption and chaos to badly relay and bodge a road in the city ,but get some TV cameras filming the state of the roads whilst filming the lycra clad warriors and all of a sudden they can lay shiny new roads in a matter of hours............... AND a few weeks later none of the crater sized potholes have returned. Its got nothing to do with giving an opportunity for thousands to have a good time and a day out then? How about the local tourism opportunity and the extra millions that will generate? Perhaps they have done it just to annoy you?

darylslinn
So no water shortage, this time! Luckily they should have plenty of water as Vittel are one of the main sponsors
Andy C
Watching the faces of all those people who've never walked up Jenkin Road as they get halfway up the hill on their way to Wincobank Common and realise that the damn thing just gets steeper as they turn the bend is going to be almost as much fun as the race itself. Other option would be to walk down from bus routes at Firth Park
Fudbeer
Really excited now this really is a once in a lifetime event for Sheffield. Be nice if the weather obliged too looking a bit dicey at the moment for Sunday.

jemson
Very short-sighted of the moderators to just lump all this info (and tittle tattle) into one thread.
Doom
Driving home yesterday I noticed all the lampposts along Shirecliffe Road now have yellow ribbons tied around them. Is this the work of SCCC or the cycle group who said they were going to decorate the roads on the route? At least it does now look like some sort of event is happening in certain areas of Sheffield, whereas before the only indication was the signs threatening to tow cars away. Blackbeard
It is nice to know that the public are all behind the TdF, so much so that it is planned that it could become an annual event. "Plans for an annual "Tour of Yorkshire" cycle race could see some of the world's top cyclists return to the county. If approved by UCI, the world governing body for cycling, the inaugural three-day race would be held on 1-3 May 2015." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-28134059 Don't throw away all that bunting and yellow bikes you may need them next year. Daven
Very short-sighted of the moderators to just lump all this info (and tittle tattle) into one thread. Quite the reverse - lumping all the push bike race stuff together in one place is fab. Only 2 more sleeps..................and it will all be over.
