Meadowhall - tremendous success since it's construction in the late 80's / early 90's helping to regenerate the industrial heartland.

Forgemasters - world leader in its field of specialist forgings showing there IS still industry thriving in this great city.

There's 2 landmarks the tour will pass, not forgetting arguably the most beautiful and scenic entrance into the city via bradfield.

So, where would YOU have routed it??

City centre, up ecclesall road, through whirlow , ringinglow, hathersage, bamford, snake pass and left to high bradfield...(in reverse!) certainly not around the arse end of the city!! This will do as much to persuade the world Sheffield is a dive as The Full Monty film. It's just embarrassing.

Also the good folk of that end of town would have embraced the event rather than whining about having their streets closed for a few hours.

From Midhopestones... Mortimer Rd, A57 Manchester Rd, Lodge Lane, Redmires Rd, Crimicar Lane, Brookhouse Hill, Fulwood Rd, Whitham Rd, Brook Hill, A61 anti-clockwise to Park Square Roundabout, then up Commercial Street, High Street, Fargate to a big finish outside the Peace Gardens.

Wherever it went through, there would have been people who would've been affected by it and would moan about it.

Well maybe theres a good reason they wanted to finish at the arena? Would there be enough space for the 2000 people in the support teams plus the vehicles plus the caravan?

Well, as we're regularly told by someone in the know on this forum, there is plenty of parking space in the city centre :)

I only put that up as a possible route that could've given a different impression - they could just as easily gone round Park Square Roundabout, down the Wicker to Meadowhall...or down the Parkway to Catcliffe, Europa Link to Shepcote Lane and then onto Meadowhall/the Arena. :)

It is a shame the council rushed to demolish DVS - this could've been a great finale for the stadium, to host the finish of stage two around the track, with a packed out DVS.

They decided they watched to com in via Bradfield.

There is a lot of parking but multi storey. Have a look on the coverage and you can make up your own mind whether it might have coped. Think they were also quite keen to include jenkin road. Several people decide on the route and it includes cyclists.

I do think people will get a false impression of the city. Hopefully iy wont rain and people will turn out.

I just don't get this notion that the whole world will get an impression that Sheffield is a dump.

It enters the city via some stunning scenery.

It continues through residential areas like it has already - the streets will be packed with supporters.

It goes on Saville St / Brightside Lane which is a busy modern industrial / commercial district.

It passes meadowhall - a modern shopping centre

Finishing at the arena.

What's the problem??
