well, they can all do one!

in the midst of all the miserable closures and demolitions, i have been feeling pretty down about this city and its prospects - this has given me a massive boost - it's a massive coup.

being the finishing line is bigger news than a start point even! all the focus of the race distilled into a few seconds. it's going to be ace.

The finish into Sheffield falls on a Sunday, which will hopefully please the killjoys as it won't disturb their mundane week day commute to work and back.

I don't think many realize how huge a stage finish of the TDF is going to be for the city. Still I fully expect lots of moaning about the citys roads been shut down because of some bloody cyclist.

i was down for the olympic time trial staying with my folks in my home town -i bore witness to a middle aged woman in a range rover shouting at a policeman that her human rights were being breeched as she was being prevented from driving on the road to tesco that her taxes pay for. she also claimed the roads should not be closed, and that they should have just cycled on one side of the road!

so it's not just Sheffield.
