The U.S.A. - Friend or Foe

Recommended Posts

I'm not to pleased at the way we seem to follow the states, It seems as though they can do no Wrong.

Are they as good a friend as they say they are?

We have just (2009) finished paying them for the loan it took out during ww2, you'd have thought that after the 7th December they would have given us the arms - but no!

What do you think? Is the usa our friend, can we trust them?

7th / 8th December 1941 I should have said.

Whatever your opinion of the current US government, the USA/UK international relationship is one of the strongest in the world, and one that is of a great benefit to both countries. Especially Britain.

The war loan was pretty much symbolic, in the face of the other assistance the UK received, and was paid back in the spirit of a gentleman's agreement, rather than the USA acting like some kind of loanshark.

To have such close links with the USA gives Britain an enormous fillip on the world stage and huge influence, out of proportion to being a small island off the north coast of Europe.
