No User Name
You dont "have" to save anything yourself, are you talking about how long your old bank has to keep a record of your old account?

Obelix
I'd keep anything until you are sure that the Revenue won't want them. Also if you are applying for a mortgage etc they may want to go back three years as well. Your bank will archive them for at least 7 years, but can charge for copies of course. Gleadly
If you are on PAYE and have no other taxable income, then it's extremely unlikely IR would want to see your statements. If you are not on PAYE then IR may need to see your bank statements if you are subjected to an investigation. They may need to audit your accounts. If you use Internet Banking, then it may be sufficient if you download your monthly statements on a regular basis. IR could ask to see your bank statements at any time, for whatever reason they feel fit.
