Plain Talker
I have just heard on the news that an 86 year old woman was robbed, on her way home from a casino in Manchester, of her life-savings (£6,000) and of a substantial amount of money (£1,000) which she had won there. Apart from how despicable it is to rob someone who is going uphill to 90, what the hell was the old lass doing:- a) carrying so much dosh around with her, b) wandering around, (apparently) alone at 0235, with such crazy sums of money and c) what 86 year old frequents casinos? (for crying out loud????) Story here:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-20831195
cressida
I read that she had taken a taxi on the way home, with all that money on her surely she could have paid the driver to take her to her door
Plain Talker
I read that she had taken a taxi on the way home, with all that money on her surely she could have paid the driver to take her to her door yes, that bit definitely sounds a bit "off". However, surely, knowing that your passenger was so elderly, wouldn't most taxi drivers have made sure to get her to the door safely? or did the robber lie in wait, knowing she'd have such a huge sum of money on her? I mean, 0235 seems such an odd time for a robbery, and on a person of that age...( Scratches head - is it just me that would not be wandering abroad at that sort of time?) Story here:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-20831195 Hey P.T The woman does hava right to frequent casinos, carry large sums of money and wander around at all hours of the night. Life doesnt end at 86 either. In light of another thread on all the virtues of gun control would she have been one up on the robber by pulling a Colt 45 on him? It's not 86 year old women who are perceived to be a bit eccentric that are problems in society but the criminal parasites who cannot just leave other people alone

Not if the attacker was carrying an Uzi. You can keep your gun culture safely over the water. There is a good reason why people are far less likely to get murdered here, thanks. As for the attack. How low can you go?
