francypants
Good riddance to him then. If he doesn't like our rules, laws , taxes etc tough. I for one won't miss him.
taxman
I'm not sure that's right. I always thought that they did the odd concert here but cleared off overseas before they became eligiible for UK tax. Folk like Paula Radcliffe cannot put on an England strip and compete here because of our tax. So marathon runners pick a few events each year and boycott the UK. But it's our tax system thats supported the UK athletes in the first place,in one way shape or form. How much money has Bolt taken from the UK in regard for training then? Bolt, nothing. But eckerslike has broadened the debate to include British athletes.

Obelix
Bolt, nothing. So why does the taxman think they are entitled to his winnings then? Especially when British atheletes can compete abroad and not pay local tax on their winnings there....?

smiggs
Who cares, athletics is rubbish. This applies equally to all sports where the individual competes on his own rather than as a team. Tennis stars are the biggiest loser because of Wimbledon because of tax laws it will cost some stars to appear at Wimbledon even if they do reasonably well but for other sports like Athletics they just don't come at all if there is no blue ribbon event. A shambles and one the government could easily sort out and actually boast the economy because we'd be able to put better events, note it's not compulsory for you to attend or watch these events.
