There are only two gay pubs/clubs. The busiest is Dempseys on Hereford Street at the bottom of the Moor, but there is also Affinity on Arundel Gate, near the Crucible and the O2 Academy.

There are a few other one-nighters here and there, e.g. Climax which is run by Sheffield University students union on one Friday each month. Normally held at the Sheffield Uni students union building, but this is currently undergoing extensive renovation so it's currently being held at the rival Sheffield Hallam university students union building, called the HUBS. This is near the Showroom cinema, not far from the railway station.

There is indeed very little for the Gay Crowd these days in Sheffield; many local LGBT people pay weekly/monthly visits to Manchester if they can afford it. Other nearby towns such as Doncaster and Barnsley are the same, it is very difficult to find a decent gay venue, and many venues in the other towns are not open 7 days a week, which at least Dempseys and Affinity are.

Please Note: Climax will be at a DIFFERENT VENUE AND AT DIFFERENT TIMES for its January date, Friday 18 January.

It will be on at VODKA REVOLUTION, at the top end of Fitzwilliam St, where it joins West St. and it will start at 7PM and end at 12.30 midnight. Also, it will be FREE ENTRY. Climax is likely to return to something more like the normal format in February, but I am still awaiting confirmation on this.
